Cinema owners asked to lift antique restrictions

Kommersant: cinemas asked Deputy Prime Minister Golikova to cancel occupancy restrictions and asked her to lift restrictions on the occupancy of halls, Kommersant reports.

According to the newspaper, on November 17, the Association of Cinema Owners (AVK) sent a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Golikova asking to cancel the antiquated restrictions on ticket sales for those cinemas that already work on the QR-code system. Restricting ticket sales will slow down the industry's recovery more, AVK said. According to experts, the collection of Russian New Year's comedies will suffer the most.

As early as last year, Russia imposed restrictions on the occupancy of cinemas. In most regions, only 50 percent of tickets can be sold, but in some areas this figure is higher. For example, in St. Petersburg, more than 40 people cannot be present in one cinema hall without the consent of the authorities.

Earlier it was announced that the Ministry of Digital Industry is considering the possibility of limiting the verification of QR codes to the official application “Gosuslugi.Stopkoronavirus”. The new rules are planned to be introduced due to the increase in the number of phishing sites that create fake QR codes.
