Biden Accepts Jury Verdict In Kyle Rittenhouse Case

WASHINGTON, 19 & nbsp; November./TASS /. US President Joe Biden makes a jury ruling acquitting an American teenager who shot and wounded two people during the & nbsp; Kenosha, Wisconsin riots in & nbsp; August 2020. The American leader confirmed this in & nbsp; Friday in a & nbsp; conversation with & nbsp; reporters on & nbsp; returning to the & nbsp; White House with a & nbsp; routine medical examination at the & nbsp; Walter Reed US Navy Hospital in the Washington suburb of Bethesda, Maryland.

.

“ I support what the jury says. The jury system works & raquo;, & nbsp; & mdash; said Biden, commenting on the verdict in the & nbsp; case of 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse. The decision was made earlier on Friday by a jury at a & nbsp; Madison, Wisconsin.

The riots in & nbsp; Kenosha began in & nbsp; August 2020 on the wave of protests that swept the United States over the & nbsp; death of black George Floyd in the & nbsp; hands of law enforcement officers. Units of the Wisconsin National Guard were sent to the city, and the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. Rittenhouse arrived in the & nbsp; town with a group of volunteers who were trying to protect it from the & nbsp; marauders.

On 25 & nbsp; August 2020, Rittenhouse opened fire from a & nbsp; rifle at & nbsp; the participants in the pogroms who attacked him. The victims of the teenager were 36-year-old local resident Joseph Rosenbaum and & nbsp; 26-year-old Anthony Haber of & nbsp; Silver Lake. 36-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz was injured, but quickly recovered from it. & Nbsp; Grosskreutz had a pistol in his hand during the collision with & nbsp; Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse fled from the & nbsp; scene, but & nbsp; later surrendered to the police in the & nbsp; neighboring state of Illinois, he was charged with & nbsp; killing two people and & nbsp; wounding a third. All participants in the crime & nbsp; & mdash; and & nbsp; Rittenhouse, and & nbsp; dead, and & nbsp; wounded & nbsp; & mdash; white.

The Rittenhouse case has acquired symbolic significance for & nbsp; USA & nbsp; & mdash; in & nbsp; his support was expressed in & nbsp; mostly Republicans, supporting the right to & nbsp; self-defense and & nbsp; possession of weapons and & nbsp; critical of the riots after the assassination of Floyd. The Americans who supported last year's protests demanded harsh punishment for Rittenhouse, whom they consider a terrorist and & nbsp; murderer of peaceful protesters.
