Ukraine announced the possibility of Russia to achieve recognition of Crimea by the EU

Colonel Zhdanov: Russia can achieve recognition of Crimea by the EU because of the crisis in Belarus

Russia can achieve recognition of Crimea by the European Union ( EU) due to the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and Poland. This was written by the Ukrainian military expert, reserve colonel Oleg Zhdanov in his article for the Glavred publication.

According to him, the situation on the border is allegedly part of the plan of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zhdanov noted that with the help of the migration crisis, the Russian authorities want to force European countries to certify Nord Stream 2, lift sanctions and recognize Crimea as Russian. The author also believes that Moscow intends to force NATO to put pressure on Ukraine so that it begins to fulfill the Minsk agreements. However, the expert noted that the latter goal is difficult to achieve. At the same time, he stressed that if the situation reaches the point of absurdity and a “small skirmish on the border” begins, then the Russian authorities will be able to put forward any demands.

In addition, the specialist said that Russia's plans are hindered by the tough position of the Polish leadership and the change of government in Germany. If the EU is forced to take out migrants by buses deep into Europe, then Russia will be “on a white horse,” the author summed up.

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union (EU) Vladimir Chizhov called the situation on the Polish border surrealism and Belarus, where migrants are massively concentrated. “The situation is acquiring features of surrealism. All this would have looked like elements of social fiction, if not for real people who suffer and even, some, die there, ”said Chizhov. In his opinion, what is happening on the Polish-Belarusian border “does not honor either Poland, or the European Union, or everyone involved in this chain of events.” throw stones, sticks and other things at the Polish military. In response, Poland fired tear gas, water cannons and stun grenades. As a result of the incident, there are casualties among the military, journalists and refugees.
