Ukraine began to use feminitives in official documents

The Kiev City Council was the first in Ukraine to start using feminitives in official documents

The Kiev City Council was the first in Ukraine to start using feminitives in official documents. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the presidential party “Servant of the People”.

Thus, in the official texts of the capital council, the use of words such as “deputy”, “resident” and “citizen” is allowed. The Kiev City Council voted for the innovation on November 11. It is clarified that these changes were initiated by the women's wing of the party, which hopes that the decision of the Kyiv City Council will become an example for other regions of Ukraine.

“This is the first regulation with feminitives in Ukraine, and therefore the Kyiv Council is by far the most progressive in the country on gender equality, “the party said in a statement.

Earlier it became known that in Ukraine it was officially allowed to use feminitives as the name of professions in personnel documentation. Changes in the classifier of professions were legalized by its order by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture. According to the document, the names of professions in the classifier are given in masculine gender, with the exception of those that are used exclusively in feminine: nanny, maid, seamstress.
