Macron pointed out the importance of a dialogue with Russia

The President of France Emmanuel macron underscored the importance of dialogue with Russia, despite the different views the two countries on the Ukrainian question. The opinion he expressed in an interview with the weekly Le Point.

“In Ukraine we adhere to completely different approaches,” — leads TASS words of the Macron. He noted that agreement has been reached on the dialogue between the civil societies of France and Russia.

Macron added that, Paris and Moscow, “there is agreement on policy in the field of climate”, in which Russia, according to him, ready to support France.

According to Him, when he is involved in international discussions, it speaks to all of us “very directly and frankly”. “I’m trying to identify differences, points of agreement and ways in which we can move together,” he explained.

France is a party to the so-called “Normandy format” in which are the negotiations for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. In February 2015 in Minsk the leaders of the four countries — Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany — have agreed on a document providing, in particular, the introduction in the Donbass cease-fire, withdrawal of heavy weapons, a legislative recognition of the special status of the region.
