The Ministry of education announced the dismissal of Eugene Ivakhnenko from the post of rector of the Russian state humanitarian University (RGGU). It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Acting rector became the first Vice-rector for academic Affairs, the Director Istoriko-archival Institute RGGU, Professor Alexander Bezborodov.
Reasons for dismissal Ivakhnenko is not specified. He told RBC that “wants nothing” to talk about reasons for leaving. He noted that he had been dismissed by order of the Minister of education, that is, its contract was “terminated”.
Ivakhnenko took the post of rector RGGU in March 2016. In this position, he was replaced by Yefim Pivovar, who was the rector since 2006. Brewer could not be re-elected for another term because of age restrictions.
Held in 2016 election of the rector was accompanied by scandal. One of the contenders for the post, Director of the Institute of Philology and history, RSUH Paul Shkarenkov said that several members of the academic Council was summoned to the Ministry of education, where they allegedly demanded not to support one of the candidates.
