The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, commented on the situation of artistic Director of “Gogol-center” Kirill Serebrennikov, RIA “Novosti”.
According to Matvienko, it is very difficult to comment on the investigation. The fact that the process is under the strict control of society, ensure transparency of the investigation, its compliance with the law, she said.

As stressed by Matvienko, in cases when the person does not pose a threat to society and humane measures, such as bail or house arrest.

Wednesday, August 23, Basmanny court of Moscow has sent Serebrennikov under house arrest until 19 October. The Director has forbidden the correspondence, telephone negotiations, meetings and out on the street without the permission of the investigator.
Earlier it was reported that the Western media reports about the arrest Serebrennikov.
