Military retirees want to increase the minimum years of service, increasing payment
As it became known “Kommersant”, according to the bill to increase the minimum years of service for the military will change the pensions for length of service of 25 years the military will be able to count on 65% of the amount provided in article 43 of the law (amount is determined by salary according to rank of officer, salary according to his military positions, percentage overhead for the length of service and index of his salary). And for each year over this period, the military will receive another 3%. The total amount shall not exceed 95% of the allowances.
The bill was prepared by the Ministry of defense, Regardie and other structures within the may orders of President Vladimir Putin.
Payments are also provided to military personnel, retired upon reaching age limit of stay on service, state of health or in connection with organizational and staff activities, but having on the day of discharge length of service 20 years. As specified in the draft law, the military will receive 50% of the “relevant sums of monetary allowance”, for each year of service — 3%, but just not more than 95% of specified allowances.
The government believes that the increase in the lower limit of the length of service will save “hundreds of billions of rubles every year.”
It is expected that the new law will enter into force on 1 January 2018, but for adaptation to new conditions of transitional period, which will last until 2023.
