In Germany, explained why Turkey cannot join the EU
MOSCOW, Aug 25 — RIA Novosti. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, believes that Turkey cannot join the EU while the authorities in the country is President Tayyip Erdogan.
“This does not mean that we don’t want them, but the Turkish government under Erdogan is moving quickly in the opposite direction from what is Europe… it is Absolutely clear that Turkey in its current state will not become a member of the EU,” said Gabriel in an interview with the newspaper Bild.
Earlier, foreign Minister of Austria Sebastian Kurz said that with the current leadership, the membership of Ankara in the EU and by 2023 to mark 100 years since the founding of modern Turkey.
