The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has appointed Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Anatoly Antonov Ambassador to the United States.
This was reported on the Kremlin website.
“By decree of the President Anatoly I. Antonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the United States of America”, — stated in the message.
Antonov also concurrently appointed permanent observer of the Russian Federation to the Organization of American States in Washington.
Earlier this position was occupied by Sergey Kislyak.
