The first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on state construction and legislation Mikhail Emelyanov said that the letter “e” is a necessary part of the alphabet of the Russian language, the change of its status in the documents can including to prevent crime and find missing persons, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“I don’t support. I would like names and identification would be very careful because it is linked with many problems, including combating crime, and search for relatives of the missing persons. So still in the transcription of names must be orderly,” said Emelyanov.
Yemelyanov also said that the letter “e” is “an essential part of the Russian alphabet, Russian phonetics”.
Earlier the Deputy of Leningrad region Vladimir Petrov offered to do the equivalent of the letter “e” and “e” in the identity and also legitimize the consonant spelling of names in documents.
In 2016 a large family were unable to get matkapital for the letter “e” in the surname.
