He can work with Russia on Syria a starting point for cooperation
Moscow. August 16. INTERFAX.RU Washington considers the work with Moscow on the creation of zones of de-escalation in Syria the starting point in the cooperation between the US and Russia, said at a briefing on Wednesday, U.S. state Department spokesman Heather Nauert.
She noted that the U.S. intends to take “this moment as a starting point and begin to build on (relations with Russia — Interfax)”.
“We are two nuclear powers, two nuclear powers can not in this world to coexist well without any relationship,” she added.
Also, the US representative said that, despite the willingness to improve relations with Russia, Washington has no intention to give in Moscow in matters relating to American interests.
“No doubt, our countries have divergent positions on many issues where we have no points of agreement, and we will continue to aggressively promote U.S. interests and goals for security,” said Neuert.
“When earlier this year came this administration, we looked at our relationship with Russia and said they are at a low level,” she added.
