Syrian troops completely liberated the city of es-Sohne

MOSCOW, August 13. /TASS/. Syrian troops and militia backed by Russian aviation by Sunday morning, completely liberated the city of es-Sohne, which opens the way for release of Deir ez-Zor. This was reported in the defense Ministry.
“August 13, 2017 as a result of joint actions of the aviation of Russian air force, units of government troops and militias in the East of the province of HOMS is completely liberated from the militants ISIL (former name “Islamic state” banned in Russia — approx. TASS) es-Sohne”, — stated in the message Department.
Informed about the liberation of the city, reported local media. As explained in the defense Ministry, the operation took place in several stages. By 10 August, the Syrian troops “captured surrounding the strategically important heights and blocked the city”, and by 03:00 on 13 August with the support of the Russian pilots dislodged militants from Northern and Western neighborhoods.
