The President of the United States Donald trump confirmed that by September 1, Washington will prepare and present actions in response to the reduction of the us diplomatic mission in Russia. On Friday, August 11, reports Reuters.
“I just spoke with Secretary Rex Tillerson and we talked about that will talk about the response… September 1, we will introduce retaliatory measures,” said trump on the question of the reduction of the us diplomatic mission in Russia.
On Wednesday, trump has commented on Moscow’s decision to reduce the number of employees of American diplomatic missions in Russia, noting that it will help to save on salaries. “I want to thank Vladimir Putin because we are trying to reduce the wage costs and I am very grateful that he released a large number of people,” said trump, adding that “they have no real reason to return to Russia”.
On 30 July, Putin said that the staff of the diplomatic missions of the USA in Russia will be reduced by 1 September of 755 people. Earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry has proposed to reduce its total number to 455. Adopted by the Moscow measures were a response to the bill to toughen anti-Russian sanctions.
On December 29 last year, the former President of the USA Barack Obama made the decision to expel 35 the Russian diplomats, as well as close access to two objects of the Russian departmenti. The White house indicated that the measures were “a response to harassment of American diplomats in Moscow from the Russian authorities.”
