Putin dismissed Deputy permanent representatives of Russia with ASEAN and international organizations in Vienna
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Vladimir Voronkov from duties of the permanent representative of the country to the international organizations in Vienna. The corresponding decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information on Monday, August 7th.
By another decree the head of state has dismissed Russia’s Ambassador to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta (Indonesia) Michael]. This post will replace Alexander Ivanov.
June 21, Vladimir Voronkov was appointed head of the Bureau for the fight against terrorism, the new structure of the UN.
He held the position of permanent representative of Russia to international organizations in Vienna since 2011. In the Austrian capital are the headquarters of 25 international organizations, in particular, OPEC, OSCE, the Organization for the prohibition of the comprehensive nuclear tests (CTBTO), the Supreme Commissariat of UN for refugees (UNHCR) and the International atomic energy Agency IAEO (IAEA).
Ivanov was the adviser of Embassy of Russia in Japan during the years 1997-2001, from 2004 to 2006 he headed the Department of ASEAN countries and the Asian-wide problems. He has held the position of Russia’s permanent representative to the organization between 2009 and 2012.
ASEAN was formed in August 1967 in Bangkok (Thailand). Originally it included Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines. Later joined by Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, Cambodia. The goals and objectives of the Association are strengthening economic growth, social and cultural development of the region.
