The Swiss Prosecutor’s office stopped the investigation against the former head of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation

Elena Skrynnik

The Swiss Prosecutor’s office terminated the criminal investigation on charges of money laundering against the former Minister of agriculture of Russia Elena Skrynnik and withdrew the arrest of its Bank accounts. On Saturday, August 5, according to the newspaper Blick.

As noted, the reason for this decision could be the unwillingness of Moscow to cooperate on this matter with the Swiss authorities. “Because of the lack of legal assistance necessary to establish the offense, the suspect can not be justified. The investigation should be stopped”, — the newspaper quotes an excerpt from a document of the Prosecutor’s office.

It also indicates that the arrested funds were returned to the Minister of agriculture in February, after payment of its legal costs in the amount of 16 thousand Swiss francs.

The General Prosecutor’s office of Switzerland has arrested accounts of the former Minister of agriculture of Russia Elena Skrynnik, appearing in the case on money laundering in October 2015. In the accounts was 60 million francs. Also the Swiss Prosecutor’s office seized 12 million Swiss francs in the accounts of the former Deputy head of the Ministry of agriculture Alexei Bazhanov.
