Source: the Syrian army surrounded the largest stronghold of ISIS* in the province of HOMS
BEIRUT, August 6 — RIA Novosti, Mikhail Alaeddin. Syrian government troops with the support of the allied forces surrounded the largest stronghold of the terrorist group “Islamic state”* in the province of HOMS, told RIA Novosti source in the scene.
“The army and allied forces have surrounded and tighten the ring around the town of Al-Sukhna. But the city has not yet entered the fighting on the outskirts, the offensive continues,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
Al-Sukhna is the last significant Outpost of ISIS* in the way of the Syrian army to the besieged city of Deir ez-Zor.
Deir ez-Zor military airport and two kilometers from it are completely surrounded by the terrorists more than three years. A few months ago, the rebels managed to cut off communication between the army soldiers in the city and the airbase.
Despite the regular attacks of the IG* using suicide bombers and car bombs, the garrison of Deir ez-Zor continues to hold the position and even made counterattacks. Food and ammunition military and civilian only get from the air. In contrast to the situation at the airbase in the city itself can still fly helicopters from Qamishli, who evacuate the wounded and deliver essential items.
