According to preliminary reports, the mine has hit 200 thousand cubic meters of groundwater”, — told the Agency.

The incident occurred at 16:30 local time (10:30 GMT). Initially it was reported that in the mine were 100 miners, later, RIA Novosti said that worked underground 148 people.

ALROSA is a Russian company, one of the world’s largest diamond miners. The share of the holding accounts for about a quarter of world diamond production and 97 percent of Russia’s. The main company activity is concentrated in Yakutia and in the Arkhangelsk region and Africa.
