Venezuela began the work of the constituent Assembly
Moscow. 4 Aug. INTERFAX.RU — the Constituent Assembly of Venezuela, designed to develop amendments to the country’s Constitution, began its work on Friday, reports news Agency EFE.
In Venezuela on 30 July elections to the constituent Assembly, which, as reported by the National electoral Council, voted about 8 million people, or 41.5% of voters.
The constituent Assembly elected in order to change the Constitution at the initiative of the President, the opposition does not recognize the election results and conducting mass demonstrations against the authorities.
As reported, the EU expressed regret at the decision of Venezuelan authorities to hold elections at this meeting. In particular, according to the head of the EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini, it will exacerbate the crisis and could lead to “the use of power without control”. Recent events in Venezuela have criticized other countries, particularly the United States.
