Russia’s Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak, who completed his mission in July, believes that relations between the two countries started the cold war. He declared it on air of TV channel “Russia 24”, transfers on Saturday, August 5, RIA Novosti.
“No, it’s not the cold war. I’m not sure I have a slide rule, which I accurately measure the distance to it”, — he said.
The diplomat also said that between Washington and Moscow, there is no ideological confrontation, but in Russia it is quite different. “The problem in our relationship, and I have tried to say, in the sense of absolute exclusivity of the Americans and their alleged rights of everyone else to say what is good and what is bad,” — said Kislyak.
According to him, “everything that is happening in Russian-American relations is quite complex, it is a long time, because the world is changing”. The Ambassador believes that the United States is “losing exceptional dominance in the world” because “Europe is near, China is almost there.”
On August 4, the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow shares the view of U.S. President Donald trump on “extremely low levels” of relations between the two countries. A day earlier, the us leader laid the responsibility on Congress.
Kislyak concluded its mission in Washington on July 22. Now the functions of chargé d’affaires of Russia in the USA performs the Counsellor Denis Gonchar.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet signed the decree about appointment of the new Ambassador to the United States. This newspaper “Izvestia” reported that Washington allegedly gave the agrément for the appointment to the post of Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Anatoly Antonov, whose candidacy was approved by the relevant Committee of the state Duma on may 18.
