Member of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Sergei Tsekov in an interview with RT commented on the statement by state Department spokesman Heather Nauert, which believes that Russia and the United States must find areas of cooperation. In his opinion, the state Department had more “sober” than other American agencies.
“In America there are adequate people. They understand that imposed on Russia sanctions excessive. They cross out the options for cooperation with Russia in international Affairs. They understand that they need to seek opportunities for cooperation with Russia. The state Department was not a developer of the law on sanctions, which limits Executive power, denying the President the opportunity to undo the sanctions. For this reason, the state Department could not agree with this law. There is an understanding that there are many problems that must be solved,” he said.
Despite a number of unfriendly actions by the US, Russia will continue to seek common ground, said Tsekov.
“Power is changing, if this does not work, then will come new. We will still seek cooperation”, — concluded the Deputy.
Earlier official representative of US state Department Heather Nauert in the briefing commented on the words of the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev that with the signing of Donald trump of the law on new sanctions came “the hope” to improve relations between the two countries. According to her, the United States and Russia should work together. However, she acknowledged that relations between the two countries are at a low level.
