Trump urged to simplify the mechanism for approval of bills in the U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON, July 28. /TASS/. The US President Donald trump on Friday again called on actually to simplify the mechanism of the vote in the Senate to the Republicans, it was easier to promote their initiative.
“If Republicans want in the future to take good bills in the Senate, they should immediately go to 51 voice [that is, to a simple majority — approx. TASS] is meaningless 60”, — he wrote on his Twitter page.
According to the established rules of the upper chamber, the draft law may be voted on only by permission of two-thirds of the senators out of 100. The Republican party currently controls the Senate 52 seats, therefore, for the adoption of certain initiatives require the voices of her opponents, the Democrats.
Trump is not the first time criticizes these rules.
On Friday, the Senate failed to take a decision on abolition of a number of key provisions of the health insurance program developed by the previous administration of Barack Obama and unofficially known as Obamacare. In the course of voting, the protracted far into the night, 49 senators voted for their repeal, and 51 against.
Observers note that the failure to vote was a severe blow to the trump, as the abolition of Obamacare was one of the key points of his election program.
According to trump, now only some provisions of the reform of health insurance can be taken by a simple majority, while “some good things need 60 votes”.
“So many great future bills and budgets need 60 votes”, — said the American leader.
