Five countries after the EU extended sanctions against the Crimea

Five partner countries of the European Union was extended until 23 June 2018 the effect of restrictions on trade and investment in Crimea. On June 19 the decision to extend imposed on Crimea sanctions adopted by the Council of the European Union.

Now this decision was joined by Albania and Montenegro (candidate countries for joining the EU), part of the European free trade Association Norway, as well as Georgia and Ukraine.

“They assured us that their national policy is consistent with the previously adopted decision of the Council. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes them,” — reads the statement of the EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini.

Sanctions imposed by the EU against the Crimea, include a ban on the import of products produced in the Crimea and Sevastopol, ban for companies and citizens to invest in businesses of the Peninsula, a ban on travel services. Also prohibits the export to Crimea of goods and technologies that can be used in the areas of transport, telecommunications or energy.
