In the Moscow city Duma demanded to dismantle a monument to the terrible

A monument to Tsar Ivan IV the terrible on “the Avenue of the rulers” in Moscow was established illegally and should disassemble. On Thursday, July 27, the Agency urban news “Moscow” said Deputy Chairman of the Moscow city Duma Commission on monumental art Lev Lavrenov.

According to him, such initiatives should have to go through the Commission. “Then it must be approved at the meeting of the Moscow Duma. It was nothing like that. That is completely illegal,” said Lavrenov.

He added that the question of dismantling will be considered at the next Commission meeting in September, if the monument will not be removed until this moment. Re-installing is only possible when issuing permits.

The emergence of a new monument in the city, without approval of the relevant Committee, it is unacceptable even on a temporary basis, said Lavrenov.

A monument to Tsar Ivan IV appeared on “the Avenue of the rulers” created by the Russian military historical society (RVIA) in Petroverigsky pereulok Moscow, Wednesday, July 26. On this Avenue are 33 bust Russian rulers authorship Zurab Tsereteli: from Prince Rurik to the head of the Provisional government of Alexander Kerensky.

In spring the monument was erected in the town of Aleksandrov, Vladimir oblast, but due to public discontent, it was dismantled. The city administration explained that the decision to postpone the opening ceremony of the monument for the summer. In June the sculptor Vasily Selivanov gave the monument for safekeeping of RVIA.
