MOSCOW, July 17. /TASS/. The appeals Collegium of the Supreme court of Russia upheld the decision on the recognition of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” extremist organization, its liquidation and banning of the activities in the country.

Thus were rejected the complaint of the organization.

“The decision of the Supreme court of the Russian Federation from April 20 to leave without change, the appeal — without satisfaction”, — said the Chairman of the appeal Board.

The court order came into force.

Protection of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” is planning to appeal the decision of the Supreme court. “The point has not been set. As the Supreme court has violated not only Russian law but also international law, we will appeal this decision to the ECHR,” — said the lawyer Victor Zhenkov.

April 20, the Supreme court has recognized “Jehovah’s Witnesses” extremist organization, eliminated and banned all its 395 offices on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The assets of the organization, the court turned to the state income.

Earlier, the Ministry of justice indicated identified during unscheduled inspections of various violations in the activities of the organization, including the law “On countering extremist activities”.

October 12, 2016 the Tver court of Moscow issued a warning to “Jehovah’s Witnesses” for extremist activity. According to Russian legislation, if the set in the warning period a religious Association does not correct the violation or identifies new evidence of signs of extremism, the organization is subject to liquidation.
