Son trump told how he was lured to a meeting with a lawyer from Russia

WASHINGTON, 11 Dec — RIA Novosti. The US President’s son Donald trump Jr. admitted that the meeting with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, which took place in June 2016 in new York, he agreed after promises that he can be provided with dirt on Hillary Clinton.

On Tuesday, trump Jr. posted in his Twitter statement, as well as correspondence with the music critic Rob Goldstone, who organized the meeting.

According to trump Jr., Goldstone sent a request from the Russian singer Emin Agalarov, the son with whom trump had known since 2013.

“Emin and his father are very respected company in Moscow. The information they offered, as I thought, was a political opposition research,” says trump Jr.

Under “political opposition research” in the US understand the practice of collecting information about political opponents to discredit them.

In a letter dated 3 June 2016 Goldstone writes that we are talking about the documents and about the “very sensitive information”, which denounces “Clinton ties with Russia.” “It’s part of the support of Russia and its government, Mr. Trump — together with the help of Araz and Emin (agalarovyh — ed.),” writes Goldstone.

In the published correspondence trump Jr. in response to the offer of the conversation with Emin Agalarov says Goldstone: “If that’s what you’re talking about (information about Clinton — ed.), I like it.”

Trump Jr. said that first tried to discuss this on the phone, and when that failed, agreed to a private meeting with Veselnitskaya that the Goldstone in the correspondence represented as “lawyer of the Russian government” and which he asks to meet Emin Agalarov.

In its statement today the son of the President reiterates that “the woman (Veselnitskaya — ed.) was not a Russian official,” and “had no information and wanted to talk about adoptions and the Magnitsky Act”.

Previously, the newspaper the New York Times reported that a lawyer from Russia Natalia Veselnitskaya, which supposedly has “ties to the Kremlin”, in 2016, met with the eldest son of the American President Donald trump, Jr., stating that it had dirt on Hillary Clinton. The President’s son told the publication that during the meeting with Veselnitskaya “it quickly became clear that she had no relevant information”. According to him, the parties have moved to the problem of adoption of children that was the purpose of the conversation, and the alleged existence of compromising materials were used only as “a pretext for meetings.” Veselnitskaya in turn denies that he offered any incriminating evidence on Clinton.
