In its lawsuit, the microblogging service is seeking the right to transparency of reporting on the number of requests for disclosure of personal information of its customers from the authorities.
Currently, the company may indicate only the approximate number of such queries in the form “0 to 499” or “500 to 999”. Twitter’s lawyers insisted that such vagueness in the reports violates the rights of entrepreneurs. Representatives of the Ministry of justice demanded to reject the claim regarding the exact number of queries is sensitive information that can be used by enemies of the state.
In his ruling, the judge pointed out that the government failed to demonstrate “a clear and immediate threat” that would justify such restrictions.
