Russia called unacceptable the report of the OPCW on chemical weapons in Syria

Russia pointed to many gaps in the text of the report of the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) on the incident with the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian town of Khan shaykhun in April and explained why the document cannot be considered acceptable. About this on air of the TV channel RT, said Russia’s permanent representative at the OPCW Alexander Shulgin, reports RIA Novosti.

“As it turned out, the goal was to make a fuss about the responsibility of the Syrian government and President Assad for the tragedy with the use of chemical weapons in the region,” said Shulgin, adding that the US and its allies without hesitation took the results of the final report of the OPCW as absolute proof of guilt of the Syrian government.

According to him, the main problem was the failure of the OPCW mission to visit the injured of the city and the shayrat airbase, where Syrian planes flew on bombing alleged chemical boepripasami. “Was there any incident of spray or a blast, it was a kind of explosion in the air or on the ground, it is absolutely not clear,” said Shulgin.

On 30 June the Russian foreign Ministry called questionable data underlying the report of the technical Secretariat of the OPCW on the incident in Khan Sheyhun. “The content of the report is largely biased, which suggests the presence of a political order”, — reads the statement of the foreign Ministry.

Gas attack in Khan Sheyhun controlled by the Syrian opposition, took place on 4 April. Killed 87 people, injured about 200. Opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the West have blamed the attack force of government troops. In Damascus said that the army did not use chemical weapons.
