The inhabitant of China will receive compensation for the forced treatment of homosexuality

A court in China decided to pay compensation to 38-year-old representative of the LGBT community for the forced treatment of homosexuality. The verdict also stated that the man should be apologized. About it reports BBC News.

Man surnamed Yu (Yu) has addressed in court after in 2015, his wife and relatives sent him to a psychiatric clinic city of Zhumadian. For 19 days against his will to man was given tablets and injections.

The court decided that involuntary placement in a psychiatric institution of a person not posing a threat to society violated his rights.

It is noted that the court required the clinics to publish in a local newspaper apology to Yu and pay him $ 735.

Homosexuality in China since 1997, is not considered a criminal offence in 2001, he was excluded from the list of mental disorders. However, Chinese society as a whole has a negative attitude to open homosexuals. As a result, the majority of gay men tend to hide their addiction from family and enter into a traditional marriage.
