ATHENS, July 3 — RIA Novosti, Gennady Melnik. The coast guard of Greece was forced to open warning fire to stop the suspected drug operation vessel under the Turkish flag, have informed RIA Novosti the press service of the coast guard.

Turkish TV channels reported earlier that the cargo ship “ACT” that followed under the Turkish flag, were fired from the boats of a coast guard of Greece in the Aegean sea after he refused to obey the instructions and to proceed to the port of Rhodes for inspection.

“This afternoon, the port authorities of Rhodes received an anonymous phone message that the cargo ship “ACT” under the Turkish flag, were in the waters to the East of the island of Rhodes, moves drugs. Was immediately raised by the coast guard, the ship which found the ship “ACT” 3.5 miles North-West of Rhodes, that is, in the Greek territorial waters”, — reported in a press-service of the coast guard.

The crew asked the captain of the vessel sent to the area, Trenton Rhodes to check.

“Captain “ASTA” disobeyed orders and sound signals from the ship port authorities, and eventually opened warning fire to stop it. Instead, the ACT continued the voyage and came into the Turkish territorial waters, while the coast guard ship stopped at the border,” — said the press service.
