The number adopted by foreigners of Russian children in 2013 decreased threefold

Foreigners in 2016 adopted three times fewer children than in 2013. it is reported by TASS with reference to the head of the Supreme court (SC) of Russia Vyacheslav Lebedev.

According to him, last year the courts issued 13,5 thousands of decisions about adoption. “The priority of adoption by Russian citizens aged” — said Lebedev.

The head of the armed forces noted that only 430 of the regulations was the placement of a child in a foreign family. This number is three times less than in 2013, when it was adopted the “law of Dima Yakovlev”.

February 7, VTSIOM published the results of a poll in which more than half of Russians are against the abolition of the “law of Dima Yakovlev”, even in the case that the United States will guarantee the life and health of adopted Russian children. At the same time, 41 percent of respondents opposed to the abolition of this law.

In January, the Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko said about the possible repeal of the “law of Dima Yakovlev” in the case of providing USA warranty. Earlier in the same month, the European court of human rights has considered illegal the law. The Ministry of justice promised to appeal the verdict.

“Dima Yakovlev law” operates in Russia since January 1, 2013. According to him, Americans banned from adopting Russian children. The law was a response to American “Magnitsky act”.
