Putin appointed Zhvachkin, the acting head of the Tomsk region

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin accepted the early resignation of the Governor of Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin, and appointed him acting head of the region. This was reported on the Kremlin website on Tuesday, February 21.

Zhvachkin will perform the duties of the head of the Tomsk region before the entry into office of a person elected the head of the region stated in the decree of the President.

9 Feb Zhvachkin told journalists that does not plan ahead to resign, and intends to participate in elections of the Governor of the region, which will be held in a single voting day, September 10, said TASS. “In five years we need to finish what we started”, the official explained to the media after the presentation of investment potential of region in Trading-industrial chamber of the Russian Federation.

Sergey Zhvachkin was headed by the Tomsk oblast in March 2012. His term of office expires in March 2017.

Earlier in February, ahead of schedule resigned five chapters of subjects of Federation: head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen, Governor of the Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, the head of the Novgorod region Sergey Mitin, the head of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn and head of the Perm region Viktor Basargin.
