“The Kiev authorities from their powerlessness decided to go to extreme measures, actually authorizing the outbreak of diversionary war in the Crimea. We see how official Kiev does not preclude the extremist battalions, the leaders of which openly talk about the military aggression in the direction of the Crimea”, — he said.
Smirnov also stressed that, in order to strengthen the work of sabotage in the Crimea, Kiev is trying to use Crimean Tatar battalion “Asker”. “The Crimean government and security forces will be able to effectively resist all hostile and aggressive plans of the regime in Kiev”, — said the member of the government of the Crimea.
Earlier on 17 February, the FSB border service in the region detained the citizen of Ukraine seit-Ibrahima Zeitullaev while attempting to illegally cross the state border. On interrogation he admitted that more than a year is in the battalion “Asker”, which serves performers of sabotage on the Peninsula.
“Asker” — Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion the name of Noman Çelebicihan, it was created in January 2016. The squad was formed with the support of the banned in Russia as extremist organization “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people”. Most soldiers of the “Asker” is Muslim.
