MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. The official representative of the Ministry of defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov confirmed the support of the British Royal air force planes Russian bombers Tu-160 over neutral waters, expressed bewilderment why the British side considers such actions “the main news of the day.” He said this to journalists, commenting on media reports UK.
“Two Russian strategic bombers Tu-160 today really fulfilled the tasks according to plan of air patrol. The route of the flight took place through neutral waters near the Barents, Norwegian seas and the Atlantic ocean. The crews of Tu-160 has performed aerial refueling aircraft tanker Il-78. At separate stages of the tour of the Tu-160 was accompanied by the aircraft of foreign States, including pilots of the Royal air force, for which the support of Russian aircraft and ships of the Russian Navy somehow is always considered an exceptional event and the main news of the day”, – said Konashenkov.
Earlier, the British defense Ministry reported that the alarm today with the air bases at Lossiemouth and Coningsby were raised in the air Typhoon aircraft to monitor two Russian strategic bombers Tu-160.
“All flights of the Russian space forces carried out in strict accordance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters without violating the borders of other countries”, – said Konashenkov.
