The Senator appreciated the consequences of the incident in al Bab for the relations of Russia and Turkey

The death of Turkish soldiers in the Syrian al-Baba from unintentional impact videoconferencing Russia will not affect Russian-Turkish relations. This opinion in an interview with “Tape.ru” stated the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Vladimir Jabbarov Thursday, February 9.

“I am sure that this incident will not affect relations between the two countries, we do not quarrel now. Already had a telephone conversation with our chief of staff with his counterpart from Turkey. He expressed his condolences, regret in connection with the incident. They agreed to coordinate efforts so that no more such incidents,” said the Senator.

He noted that it is incorrect to compare the attack on the Russian su-24 bomber in November 2015, after which soured relations between Moscow and Ankara over the incident in al Bab. “It’s a completely different situation. (…) Then we were like enemies, but now we are allies,” — said dzhabarov.

Earlier Thursday, the General staff of the Turkish armed forces announced that the result of the impact of Air and space forces in Northern Syria killed three Turkish soldiers and injured 11. Information about the unintended impact of SCD was confirmed in the Ministry of defence. In the Kremlin explained that the cause of the incident was the inconsistency between the coordinates in the operation.

After the incident, a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Russian leader expressed condolences to the colleague. In addition, the parties agreed to strengthen the coordination of military action in Syria against the terrorist organization “Islamic state” (banned in Russia).
