St. Petersburg authorities have equated meeting of deputies with voters to rally

Meeting of deputies of the Petersburg legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg has officially equated the protesters, their conduct would be consistent with the law enforcement agencies, reports “Interfax”.

“Meetings with voters are held in different ways: in the reception, people can meet in the courtyard with his grandmother. But what happened on the field of Mars on January 28, obviously, has all the hallmarks of the rally,” — said the author of the amendment, the leader of a city of the faction “United Russia” Alexander Teterenko.

At the meeting of the legislative Assembly on 8 February, the document was adopted in the first and second readings, since no amendments received. The amendment was supported by 38 deputies voted against 11.

February 12 to be held the next meeting of the residents of Petersburg with the electorate on the transfer of Isaac ROC. Its organizer, the Deputy of legislative Assembly from the “Yabloko” Boris Vishnevsky, assured potential participants that by this time the new law had not yet entered into force.

The adopted amendments were a reaction of the city authorities on last 28 January to protest against the Saint Isaac’s Cathedral Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in the field of Mars. The application for the rally was rejected by city administration, therefore, was eventually organized as the meeting with the deputies of the legislative Assembly. On 8 February, the opponents of the transfer of Isaac’s Church, has organized a comic protest from the person of a fictitious organization “Insult Russia”. The activists demanded legislation to ban all mass public events, except for religious processions and military parades, and to transfer the Church building of the city Parliament.
