The Russian economy will be in dire Straits after the easing or lifting of sanctions, as the restrictions had a beneficial effect on domestic producers. On Wednesday, December 21, in an interview with “Tape.ru” said the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on economic policy Nikolay Arefiev.
“Thanks to the initiative of farmers and the restriction of access to the Russian market some food, began to produce more products than before the sanctions,” the MP reminded.
In his opinion, after the lifting of sanctions to Russian companies that managed to grow thanks to the restrictions “will not be able to compete with the West.”
“We’ll have to wait for higher oil prices when we bring bananas, potatoes from Israel, strawberries from Egypt,” — said Arefiev.
On 20 December the U.S. added to the sanctions list against Russia seven citizens, 26 organizations and two tankers.
The Russian foreign Ministry said that Moscow will reserve the right to respond to Washington’s actions.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the destructive policy of Washington towards Russia is regrettable, and Moscow will take adequate measures in response to the extension of the sanctions.
While 55 percent of economists surveyed by Bloomberg, believe that the United States in the next 12 months will begin to ease sanctions against Russia.
In 2014, several countries, including the USA and member States of the European Union, began to introduce restrictive measures against Russia, linking them with the entry of the Crimea into the Russian Federation, and then the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine.
