Lavrov said the aim of the assassination of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov has called the murder of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey Andrey Karlov “vile terrorist act”.
This statement he made on Tuesday, December 20, at the talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Moscow, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, the crime was committed in order to damage relations between Moscow and Ankara. The incident makes the fight against international terrorism “even more resolute”, said Lavrov.
The head of the Russian foreign Ministry also thanked Turkey for “immediate response to this barbaric crime, for the condolences”, reports TASS.
The murder of Charles was committed on December 19 at the opening of the exhibition in the Gallery of modern art in Ankara. Police officer mevlüt MERT Altıntaş shot 62-year-old diplomat in the back and was soon eliminated by the security forces. Apart from the Ambassador injured three people, Russians among them.
