The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko believes that Russia should not be promoted round of sanctions in response to the U.S. decision to suspend the issuance of visas.

United States Wednesday suspended the procedure for issuing non-immigrant visas across all Russia, from September 1 this procedure resumes, but only at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Washington explained the innovations to the reduced number of employees. Early American visa issued Consulate in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok.

“I am a supporter to not continue to spin a sanctions spiral, continue to promote the escalation of confrontation. You don’t always need an eye for an eye. Of course, international practice, Russia has the right to answer to certain hostile attacks. But I am opposed to this. Need to be sometimes above that. No need to get involved in those provocative actions step by step to be declared by the United States of America,” — said Matvienko reporters.

“Well, we won’t be American citizens in such a way as to punish, not to give them the opportunity to obtain a visa to Russia. After all, what is the restriction on issuance of visas — a restriction of the ability to visit the United States of America, to experience life in America, this limitation business, cultural, sports. For what it’s done? What is the policy? They have already encroached on the sacred — on intercourse, the possibility in the twenty-first century people to communicate, to visit each other. It is quite wild and just looks provocative,” — said the speaker of the upper house.
