The court ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $417 million female cancer patient

The court of Los Angeles ordered the company Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to pay record compensation of $417 million cancer patients a woman who claims that she got cancer after using the company’s products. On it informs Agency Associated Press.

As reported, the lawsuit was filed by a California resident Eva Echeverria.

The woman said that in 2007 she developed ovarian cancer. The reason, according to her, was that she used baby powder with talc every day from 1950 to 2016.

Echeverria also said that J&J did not properly warn consumers about the risks of using talc.

According to the court, in the amount of the payment included $68 million in compensation for moral damages and another $340 million in the form of a penalty.

The representative of J&J Carol Goodrich said the company will appeal the decision. The sum of $417 million, was awarded to the American woman, became a record among the compensation that Johnson & Johnson ever paid by the court.

Previously “Izvestia” reported on the payment of $110 million to the American also cancer patients.

In February 2017, the same court ordered the company to pay $72 million compensation to the family of a woman who died of ovarian cancer. Just a few months, another court in Missouri upheld the claim of another cancer patient, requiring Johnson & Johnson to pay her $55 million.
