The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov next week will hold a meeting with state Secretary of Vatican Pietro parolin, at which the parties will discuss the situation in Syria, Libya and other international issues, said at a briefing on Thursday the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“From 20 to 24 August in Russia on a working visit will be the Vatican Secretary Mr. Parolin” , — said Zakharov. According to her, during the visit of Vatican’s Secretary of state provided for his meeting with Lavrov.
“It is planned to discuss topical international issues, including in countering new challenges and threats and the settlement of regional conflicts. Special attention will be paid to the situation in Syria, Libya and other countries in the Middle East and North Africa, primarily in the context of the peaceful resolution of crises, coping with humanitarian catastrophes, protection of the Christians in the area of conflict and to combat international terrorism,” — said the official representative of the foreign Ministry.
She added that the Russian side will also present Parolin Russian position on the Ukrainian question. According to her, the bilateral agenda is a special place for cooperation in the field of culture, humanitarian ties, science and medicine.
