According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 16. Koshigoe, Keita (Keita Koshigoe) was surfing about 200 metres from the coast when a marine animal has plunged her teeth into his left heel.
The man was able to swim to land. On his leg were deep cuts from the teeth of a predator. Arrived at the scene rescuers had a 37-year-old Japanese man first aid after which he was hospitalized.
In the hospital, in addition to doctors, the victim was examined by the experts of the Center of marine biology of Phuket (PMBC). They came to the conclusion that Koshigoe attacked blacktip reef shark.
Experts explained that these animals feed mainly on small fish and pose no danger to humans. In PMBC suggested that predator bit the Japanese, mistaking his foot for prey.
Earlier in August it became known that a shark attacked a 20-year-old traveler from Austria at the Egyptian resort of Marsa El Alam. The animal tore from the girl’s body a piece of meat, the victim saved the Ukrainian tourist.
