Rescue operation on emergency mine in Yakutia, partly terminated

Rescuers have stopped the search operation at the Mir mine in Yakutia on the horizon minus 310 meters. This is stated in the message on the website of the company that owns the mine “ALROSA”.

As noted, this is done because of flooding horizon at the level of more than a meter. “The descent of rescuers on the horizon minus 310 meters is impossible, as is a threat to their lives”, — stated in the message. Presumably, there are four of the eight blocked miners.

“All the efforts of the rescuers at the moment is aimed at analysis of blockages and search for missing miners on the horizon minus 210 meters”, — said the press service.

4 Aug mine have been a breakthrough of water. In the first hours after the incident were evacuated workers from 142 151. The next day we managed to rescue another miner Alisher Mirzaev, stuck at a depth of 410 meters.

The Mir mine accounts for about 11 percent of the annual production of the company. Landmark production for 2017 is about 39 million carats.
