The Russian Embassy in the USA recommended to Russians to avoid travel to Charlottesville, VA
TASS, 13 Aug. The Russian Embassy in the United States encouraged the Russians to temporarily refrain from traveling to Charlottesville, VA, where as a result of the riots and car knocked down a pedestrian killed one person and injured more than 30.
“In connection with the announcement of [us] authorities, regime of state of emergency in Charlottesville, Virginia, we recommend Russian citizens to refrain from trips to this city before full normalization of the situation and the lifting of state of emergency” — said in a statement posted on the Embassy website on Twitter.
In Charlottesville early Saturday morning erupted violent clashes between nationalists and oppose their actions of citizens because of the decision of the local authorities to demolish the monument to the commander of the army of the Confederate States of America Robert Edward Lee (1807-1870).
Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe announced the state of emergency and the city Council gave police chief al Thomas the authority to declare when necessary, a curfew in the city.
