In the Tver region to return the direct elections of the mayor of Rzhev is not enough five signatures
The initiative group to collect signatures for the return of direct mayoral elections in the city of Rzhev, Tver region, has failed to make a 3 thousand signatures necessary for the bill was considered by the regional legislative Assembly.
The group was registered in early March. Activists managed to collect 3302 signatures, of which the test were 3300 signatures. As reported at the meeting of the regional election Commission Deputy Chairman Maxim Tumanov, on the basis of nine different reasons for the 305 signatures were declared invalid. Tomorrow, August 8, all documents will be sent to the regional legislative Assembly, which will take a final decision on the initiative.
The Chairman of the election Commission of the Tver region Valentine Dronova at the meeting noted “the paradox initiative”. “Citizens put forward an initiative specifically for the return of direct elections of the mayor of Rzhev. Meanwhile, subscription lists, we found signatures of residents of other municipalities, which in any case would not vote for the head of Rzhev”. According to her, the deputies of the legislative Assembly of the Tver region should consider to fix this “dissonance” in the law.
