Makron was accused of racism due to phrases on fertility in Africa

Emmanuel Macron

The President of France Emmanuel macron has faced accusations of racism after hearing about the high level of fertility in selected countries of Africa. It is reported by RFI.

Speaking at the recent summit of leaders of the countries “Big twenty” in Hamburg, macron said that the development of the States of the Black continent to spend billions of euros, but “while there are countries where women have seven or eight children, you will not achieve positive progress”.

Originally these words did not pay much attention. However, after their publication in some media, the macron was in the lens of criticism — he was accused of racism and colonialist thinking.

In addition, the Makron remembered very ambiguous statement made in early June during a visit to the Centre for monitoring and rescue at sea in Brittany. One of its leaders told the head of state about the types of boats which he had saved and mentioned the longboats “Kwassa-Kwassa”. As written by Liberation, wanting to demonstrate awareness and to make a joke, macron said: “Kwassa-Kwassa fit little fish, but a lot Commerce”.

The phrase caused a sharp condemnation from the press and the public, as such vessels to the French island of Mayotte in the Indian ocean are trying to get illegal immigrants from the Comoros, many of whom die. The press service of the Elysee Palace then said that the President “unfortunate joke”.

The summit of leaders of the countries “Big twenty” was held on 7-8 July in Hamburg.
