Russia will offer for consideration the summer session of the OSCE PA two resolutions, one related to strengthening the organization’s role in countering terrorism, the second refers to “the inadmissibility of discrimination and intolerance against Christians, Muslims and followers of other religions”, said the head of the Russian delegation to the Assembly, Vice-speaker of the state Duma Pyotr Tolstoy.

The summer session of OSCE PA will be held in Minsk from 5 to 9 July. During the session, scheduled meeting of the committees on political Affairs and security, on economic Affairs, science, technology and environment, democracy, human rights and humanitarian issues. The plenary session of the OSCE PA will be held on 8 and 9 July.

Antiterror

As the press service of Tolstoy, in the first resolution we are, in particular, on the need to strengthen criminal liability under national legislations of the countries-participants of OSCE, in respect of persons, “participating in the financing, planning, preparation or Commission of terrorist acts”. Also in the text of the resolution noted the importance of preventing “cross-border movement of persons, weapons and funds connected with terrorist activities,” reads the press release.

In addition, the Russian parliamentarians urged European colleagues “to take decisive action to neutralize the threat posed by the ideology of terrorism that is distributed, including on the Internet and through social networks, and used, in particular, for public justification of terrorism, incitement and recruitment”, the report says.

However, the resolution calls on the media to voluntarily opt out of providing information platforms to terrorists and their sponsors, and the discharge voltage in the information space, the press service of Tolstoy.

“This paragraph seems to me the most important, as today, the main events take place not on the battlefield, and in the studios of media and on the Internet. We are increasingly faced with the blatant falsification of the facts, the main purpose of which is to demonize a particular party or political force to further justify aggression against entire Nations,” said Tolstoy, whose words are quoted by his press service.

According to the Deputy, it is perfectly visible on the example of Syria. “Western media ascribe the crimes of the terrorists the government troops, thereby justifying its own is not always lawful action against this sovereign state, and “whitewash” the reputation of organizations recognized as terrorist almost in the whole world”, — said the head of the Russian delegation.

A separate paragraph of the resolution proposed in the framework of the OSCE PA Committee on counter-terrorism, which could facilitate the convergence of approaches of States parties to combat the terrorist threat and the coordination of their actions, the report said.

Interreligious dialogue

“In the second resolution, proposed by the Russian delegation, refers to “the inadmissibility of discrimination and intolerance against Christians, Muslims and followers of other religions”, — said the press service.

It is noted that the authors of the resolution recall the right of everyone to freedom of thought, religion and belief. “Russian MPs call for inter-religious dialogue, and stressed that the “terrorist acts committed by individuals or groups who associate themselves with a particular religion or belief may not serve as a justification for religious intolerance,” press release.
