MOSCOW, 17 Dec — RIA Novosti. An earthquake with magnitude of 8.0 occurred on Saturday off the coast of the state of Papua New Guinea in the Pacific ocean, according to the US Geological survey (USGS).
The aftershocks recorded at 10.51 UTC time (13.51 GMT) off the coast of the island of New Ireland in 63 kilometers to the East of the city of Taron. Hearth lies at a depth of 73 kilometers.
Information on casualties or damage were reported. The threat of a tsunami has not been announced.
