A great loss for Soviet and Russian sport, because he has done a lot to promote hockey not only in our country but throughout the world”, – said Mikhailov.

“When we played he was the strongest centre forwards not just of his time, he was ahead of time. He has contributed to international hockey as one of the best Central strikers,” he added.

Vladimir Petrov together with Boris Mikhailov and Valery Kharlamov played in a trio, which has made a significant contribution to the resounding victory of the Soviet team.
