Moscow has responded to accusations of involvement in an attempted coup in Montenegro
Stating that the coup attempt in Montenegro was attended by the state authorities of Russia are unfounded, said Sergey Lavrov. Informed about the involvement of the Russian authorities, said the Prosecutor of Montenegro.
The allegation that Russian authorities were involved in the coup attempt in Montenegro are “unfounded”. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, reports “RIA Novosti”.
According to him, the news “is on a par with other unfounded accusations us and our country.” Lavrov mentioned among them hacker’s interference in the election campaign the “most Western countries” and communication of administration of trump with the Russian special services. Lavrov said that “any fact” about these allegations “was not charged”.
He commented on charges of the special Prosecutor of Montenegro Milivoje of Katica. According to him, with the coup attempt “was a Russian nationalist organization.” He added that “now we know that they were taken by Russian state authorities.”
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin’s negative attitude to this statement of the Prosecutor’s office of Montenegro.
“We day after day we fix some of the absurd accusations against Russia, day after day, refute these accusations,” — said Peskov stressed that Moscow’s involvement in “some internal developments in Montenegro” cannot be and speeches.
The coup was to take place on 16 October 2016. According to Katica, a group of nationalists, “formed on the territory of Montenegro, Serbia and Russia”, planned to kill the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic and help of the party of the opposition to take the Parliament. According to the Prosecutor, the head of the group was a Russian citizen Eduard Shirokov (real name — Shishmakov), who was Deputy military attache in Poland and who had been expelled from the country for espionage in favor of Russia.
“This passport was issued to him by the Russian authorities, he is a member of the Russian security services,” — said Katnic and added that currently, the Interpol is looking for two citizens of Russia — Edward Shirokov and Vladimir Popov.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is “categorically deny” his involvement in any attempt of the organization of “illegal actions”
According to the Guardian, in November, the Secretary of security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev apologized to the authorities of Serbia, assuring that the action was not sanctioned by the Kremlin. The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova denied the information about the apology, calling the article a provocation.
16 October 2016 Montenegro held parliamentary elections. On the same day it became known that on suspicion in preparation of acts of terrorism were detained 12 citizens of Serbia.
